County OKs bid for jail work

LUMBERTON — A new roof on the Robeson County jail should be in place within three to four months.The Robeson County Board of Commissioners on Monday approved an $861,000 contract with Allied Roofing Co. Inc. for roof construction. Adding in engineering fees, construction management and contingencies, the total project will cost about $982,000, Charles Britt, the county’s General Services manager, said. The commissioners earlier this year budgeted $1 million for the project.Allied Roofing was the lowest bidder among four companies, Britt said. The bidding process and evaluation of bids was administered by Anderson Engineering & Associates, a Lumberton company.


McIntyre cited as least partisan in U.S. House
