Mars hopefuls at planetarium Saturday

LUMBERTON — The Robeson Planetarium is hosting Dr. Leila Rowland Zucker, Oscar Mathews and Dan Carey — three people who are willing to give up everything on Earth for a one-way ticket to Mars.

The Mars One astronaut selection process has selected the three as the first human crew to explore Mars. Each will be at the planetarium on Saturday at 8 p.m. to give a short presentation on different aspects of the mission as well as answer a few questions after their session.

A second presentation will be held at 9 p.m. if the first event sells out.

The Robeson Planetarium is located at 420 Caton Road, and there are only 65 seats open for the presentation. Admission is $3 per person, and all proceeds will be donated to the Mars One effort to put humans on Mars. For information about the planetarium, visit their Facebook page or log on to robeson.k12.nc.us/domain/47. To make reservations, call 910-735-2148.
