LUMBERTON — Southeastern Regional Medical Center will host an American Red Cross blood drive in the hospital Assembly Room on Thursday from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Anyone who would like to donate blood is asked to bring photo ID and must be at least 17 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds and be in good health.


Donors will be entered into a drawing to win a $1,500 gift card sponsored by American Red Cross. To schedule an appointment or for information, call 910-671-5093 or 1-800-RED CROSS, email ivey08@srmc.org, or logon to redcrossblood.org and search by sponsor code: Southeastern.


LUMBERTON — Southeastern Health is sponsoring Life Line Screenings in order to help local residents identify their risk of stroke, vascular disease and osteoporosis before the catastrophic effects of these conditions occur.


The next screenings will be held on Tuesday at Laurinburg Church of the Nazarene, located at 11121 Turnpike Road in Laurinburg; Thursday at Bennettsville Community Center, located at 714 N. Marlboro St. in Bennettsville, S.C.; and Feb. 20 at Chestnut Street United Methodist Church, located at 200 E. Eighth St. in Lumberton.

LUMBERTON — Southeastern Health’s Community Health Education Center will host a Laughter Yoga session on Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. at the center, located in Biggs Park Mall.

LUMBERTON — Biggs Park Mall and Southeastern Health’s Community Health Education Center will partner to host a Go Red! walk on Thursday. The general public is invited to wear red and walk around the inside of the mall from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. to maintain their good health and raise awareness of heart health. Walkers should register at the center for refreshments and prizes.

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — Dr. Riyaz Jinnah of Southeastern Orthopedics will present a free seminar on Thursday on MAKOplasty, a minimally-invasive partial knee resurfacing procedure to treat early to mid-stage osteoarthritis.


Using robotic arm technology, MAKOplasty can provide quicker rehabilitation and more natural knee motion post-surgery compared with total knee replacement. The seminar will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. in the Marriott Courtyard Commons Room, 1000 Commons Blvd., Barefoot Landing, Myrtle Beach, S.C.
