RED SPRINGS — A Red Springs man tending to his neighbor’s chickens was found dead Sunday, and investigators say foul play may be involved, according to Robeson County Sheriff Kenneth Sealey.
An autopsy had not yet been performed on the body of 50-year-old Bracy Terry Lowery on Monday afternoon but investigators were “working it as a homicide anyway,” Sealey said.
According to the sheriff, Lowery, who lives on Flat Rock Road, was taking care of chickens at a neighbor’s home on Charlotte Road while the neighbor was out of town.
The homeowner, whose name was not immediately available, returned home Sunday, went out to feed the chickens at about 1:30 p.m. and found Lowery’s body. Sealey said Lowery regularly took care of the neighbor’s property.
Sealey said Lowery suffered some wounds but declined to provide any further details. Sealey said at about 2 p.m. on Monday that an autopsy had not been scheduled but would be performed soon.
