ST. PAULS — St. Pauls police say all four people injured in a shootout at a local store on Monday afternoon have been released from the hospital.
The shooting broke out between three men, who are all related, at Five Star Discount at the intersection of West Broad Street and U.S. 301, according to Police Chief R. Thomas Hagens. In addition to the three involved the shooting, a fourth man pumping gasoline was shot in the knee.
Hasaan Jamel Ray, 23, was shot in the head while exchanging bullets with 28-year-old Antonio Ray and also firing at 25-year-old Timothy Ray. Antonio Ray’s right leg was grazed by a bullet and Timothy Ray was struck in the chest, Hagens said. Hagens believes the men are cousins.
Hagens said police have not determined what led to the shooting.
Antonio and Timothy Ray arrived at the store first, followed by Hasaan Ray, Hagens said.
“Antonio was sitting in the car and you can see on the video Hasaan Ray came out (of the store) with a gun first and started shooting,” Hagens said.
During the exchange, 63-year-old Henry Lee Herald was struck. Herald was released from Southeastern Regional Medical Center on Monday.
Hasaan Ray, who was taken to McLeod Medical Center in Dillon, S.C., and released on Monday, has been charged with discharging a firearm into occupied property, assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill for shooting Antonio Ray. He has been jailed under a $175,000 bond.
Antonio Ray is charged with discharging a firearm into occupied property, assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury and resisting an officer. He is being held under a $66,000 bond. He was treated on-site, Hagens said.
No charges have been filed against Timothy Ray, who was also released from the hospital Monday.
Both Timothy Ray and Antonio Ray live on Martin Road. Hasaan Ray lives on Community Drive.
