LAURINBURG — Authorities are searching for leads in the case of a Robeson County teenager admitted to the Scotland Memorial Hospital emergency room on Thursday with apparent gunshot wounds.

Around 6 p.m., Tamara Lynn McGirt, 19, was dropped off at the emergency room entrance by two men driving a tan Mercury Marquis. McGirt is a resident of Westgate Terrace Apartments in Red Springs.

According to Laurinburg Assistant Police Chief Cliff Sessoms, the circumstances and location of the shooting remain under investigation, but the vehicle and the two men are believed to be from Robeson County.

McGirt has since been transferred to another medical facility. Sessoms said that she remains in serious condition and has been unable to provide any information.

Anyone with information should call the Laurinburg Police Department at 910-276-3211.
