Education briefs for Oct. 30

PEMBROKE — The University of North Carolina will hold a fall open house on Nov. 9 at 8:30 a.m. in the Givens Performing Arts Center.
Tours, an information fair and on-site admissions will be available. The university’s enrollment is 6,249 students, It offers 41 undergraduate majors and the average class size is 22 students and the student-faculty ratio is 15 to one.
To be considered for on-site admissions, the following items must be received: A completed application, $45 application fee or fee waiver, an official high school transcript and official SAT or ACT scores. Other open houses will be held on Feb. 15 and April 5.
ST. PAULS — The Indian Education Parent Committee in St. Pauls and Red Springs each has an opening for parents who are interested.
Elections will be held at 6 p.m. on Nov. 7 in the schools’ libraries.
Members of the committee are chosen by parents of American Indian children enrolled in each district.
