LUMBERTON — Sharon Smith Branch, a Lumberton native, was recently inducted into the Beta Rho Theta Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa at Bladen Community College.
Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society is the largest honor society in American higher education with 1,280 chapters on college campuses in the United States, Canada, Germany, the Republic of Palau, the Republic of the Marshall Islands, the Federated States of Micronesia, the British Virgin Islands, the United Arab Emirates, U.S. territorial possessions and Peru. More than 2.5 million students have been inducted since its founding in 1918.
Branch, a Business major, is the daughter of Jethro Gilchrist; Bessie Smith and the late Melvin Smith of Lumberton. She is married to the Rev. Harrison J. Branch of Lumberton.
