PEMBROKE — Comedian and actor Wil Sylvince will perform at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday at The University of North Carolina at Pembroke at the Givens Performing Arts Center.
“The audience can expect a piece of my life, family and experiences growing up in America as a Haitian,” Sylvince said during a phone interview on Thursday.
This will be Sylvince’s first time performing in Robeson County. The show is free.
“I will also get some of my material from what I see locally,” Sylvince said.
Sylvince uses what he said is an “early childhood speech impediment” as he entertains audiences with his ability to play on words.
Born in Brooklyn, Sylvince is a graduate of New York Technical College. He has performed on BET’s “Comicview,” HBO’S “Def Comedy Jam” and “Showtime at the Apollo.” Sylvince currently tours with the Wayans Brothers. According to his website, his work has been applauded by comedians such as Chris Rock, Louie CK, Jamie Foxx and Kevin Hart.
“Laughter is good for your soul,” Sylvince said. “If you’re not laughing every day then you’re not doing something right.”
