LUMBERTON — The Lumberton Lions Club recently appointed its new officers for the year during ceremonies held at the club’s den on Carthage Road in Lumberton.

Sammy Cox was named president; Jimmy Martin and Channing Jones were named vice presidents; Jim Kirkland was named secretary; Kenny Morgret was named treasurer; Andy McCormick was named lion tamer; Kenny Cox was named tail twister; and Mitchell Taylor was named chaplain.

New directors include outgoing President David Cox, McCormick, Sammy Cox, Brooks Baxley, Luther Sanderson and Charles Ivey.

Kirkland, Martin, Sanderson and Randell Paterson were named William L. Wollard Partner-In-Service Fellows, while Sammy Cox was named a Melvin Jones Fellow by the Lions Club International.

Established in 1945, the Lumberton Lions Club comprises 28 members who meet biweekly and organize programs to help people who are blind or visually impaired.
