WINSTON-SALEM — Jim Grobe, the head coach behind Wake Forest football’s most successful run in the ACC era, is expected to step down as the Deacons’ head coach Monday.

The announcement was first reported by Dan Collins of the Winston-Salem Journal

The university has scheduled a press conference for 4:15 p.m. at Deacon Tower.

The Demon Deacons finished 4-8 this season after Saturday’s two-point loss at Vanderbilt. In 13 seasons, Grobe record is 77-82, including a 42-62 mark in ACC games, at Wake Forest.

In 2006, Grobe led Wake Forest to its first ACC title since 1970. Grobe was named national coach of the year by the American Football Coaches Association, The Associated Press and other organizations.
