Two Robeson County residents were killed this weekend in separate accidents involving vehicles.

In both accidents, the driver of the vehicle is facing charges, according to the state Highway Patrol.

Aaron Christopher Scott, 31, of 29 Chapelwood Circle, Pembroke, died when he was partially ejected from a vehicle on Saturday, and Kiara Jasper, 23, of Rowland, was killed when she was run over by a tractor-trailer on Sunday.

According to investigating Trooper J.T. Locklear, Scott was a passenger in a 2011 Ford passenger car that was being driven north by Tony Ray Bullard, 48, of 762 Recreation Road, Pembroke, on State Road 1515 when it ran off the road to the right. Bullard over-corrected, the vehicle exited the road to the left, struck a ditch and struck a tree on the passenger’s side.

Scott and Bullard, who were both wearing seat belts, were taken to Southeastern Regional Medical Center, where Scott was pronounced dead. Bullard was treated and transferred to another hospital.

Locklear estimated the vehicle was traveling 75 mph in a 55-mph zone when the accident occurred at 12:29 a.m. Damage to the vehicle was estimated at $19,000.

Bullard was charged with reckless driving and death by vehicle, both misdemeanors.

According to a report by Trooper M.W. Davis, Jasper, of 90 Thurman Drive, was killed at 2:22 a.m. Sunday when she jumped out of the cab of a 2013 Peterbilt being driven by Ricky McRae on N.C. 710, approximately four miles north of Rowland, and was run over by the trailer.

McRae, of 908 McKinnon Pate Road, Rowland, was making right-hand turn while traveling about 10 mph in a 55-mph zone when the accident happened. According to the report, McRae had a blood-alcohol content of .04, which is above the legal limit for operating a commercial vehicle. He was charged with driving while impaired.
