Candidate thanks supporters, worries about Saddletree

To the Editor,

I want to thank all of my supporters who came out in the cold rainy weather to support my bid to bring a voice from Saddletree on the Tribal Council. It is hard to run an honest campaign when the cards are stacked against you.

I am not being a sore loser: Dewey McNeill beat me fair and square. We can hold our heads up high and say we did our best. I know that the Tribal Council did everything in its power to make sure that I didn’t win. They knew that I wouldn’t be their puppet. I hope that I am wrong, but I really feel that like for the past six years, Saddletree will not have a strong voice on the council goving forward.

It is really sad that out of 2,400 registered voters in Saddletree, a little more then 400 came out to vote. I have heard so many people complain that Pembroke gets everything, yet the same people who complain are the same people who didn’t bother to vote. And nothing is ever going to change until you stop voting for someone because he or she is your cousin or friend or because he asked me first or he or she goes to my church, and start voting for someone who can do the job. The Lumbee people, we are our own worst enemies.

Dewey, young man, hold your head up high. At least you didn’t stoop so low as to buy the election.

Richard Terry Locklear

Hold your head up, man. At least you can sleep well knowing you're not giving out other peoples hard earned money...

I'll tell you what you can do for YOUR community, since YOU want to "help" YOUR people so much. Have pig-pickins, Harley charity rides, etc to raise money THE HONEST WAY through donations and "help" all YOU want to. This way the money is donated not stolen from taxpayers to be given to one race of people.

So there you go, I expect to see YOU out in full force in Saddletree raising money on weekends and eavenings, having cook-outs and Hawg rides, heck I'll even show up on Thunder and ride.....

See you soon, mr. careing man.

ROSSisRIGHT maybe you could care a little more and learn to spell or at least use spell check. Example: eavenings- evenings, careing- caring. Maybe your advice would be more effecient and helpful if appropriate grammar and spelling was used in your comments.

Hey there "teacher"... I'm a product of Robeson counties public education system.... I was taught by,.... well you guys.

If you were this concerned about our kids in school and their spelling, we wouldn't be last in the state in public education.

Imagine if your doctor failed you as often as you do our kids? Imagine......
