Curtis Chavis, 94, of Fairmont, died Nov. 20, 2012, at Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Floyd Funeral Services Chapel, Bishops James W. Hunt and James E. Hunt officiating. Burial will follow in the Chavis family cemetery on Marion Stage Road in Fairmont.
Chavis was born April 8, 1918, in Marlboro County.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jerry and Lizzie Chavis; his wife, Jessie Bell Freeman Chavis; a daughter, Johnnie Bell Sanders; and several siblings.
He is survived by five sons, Roy Lee Chavis, Derrell Chavis and Curtis Chavis Jr., all of Lumberton, J.C. Chavis of Fairmont, and Larry Chavis of Chadburn; seven daughters, Betty Oxendine of Parkton, Sallie Jacobs and Margie Griffin, both of Fairmont, Jenny Oxendine, Gertrude Jacobs and Hattie Hunt, all of Lumberton, and Joann Hunt of St. Pauls; 46 grandchildren, 109 great-grandchildren and 25 great-great-grandchildren
The visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Floyd Funeral Services in Fairmont.
The family wishes to thank Mr. Randy Freeman for all the special love and care he gave to our daddy. “Randy, your kindness will always remembered.”
