PEMBROKE — Union Elementary will hold registration for kindergarten and pre-kindergarten students on March 28 from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the school

Children who will be 5 years old on or before Aug. 31 can be registered for kindergarten and children who will be 4 years old on or before Aug. 31 are eligible for pre-kindergarten.

Parents or guardians need to bring child’s certified birth certificate, Social Security card, immunization records and proof of 911 residence.

PEMBROKE — The Office of Multicultural and Minority Affairs and the Mary Livermore Library is holding a TriRacial Moviegoing presentation to celebrate Black History month on Feb 27.

The presentation, by Christopher McKenna, will use newspaper records, photographs and oral histories to examine the Jim Crow era of moviegoing in Robeson County. McKenna, a senior fellow of English and Comparative Literature at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, will focus on whites, American Indians and black who attended movies in Robeson County from 1896 to 1940.

Admission for the event is free. It will be held in the UC Annex Assembly room at 6:30 p.m.

PEMBROKE — The UNCP Career Center will host a Career Expo on Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Chavis University Center Annex.

UNCP alumni and current students are invited to meet with representatives from regional businesses, graduate schools, nonprofits and government agencies. Admission is free for UNCP alumni and students, but professional dress and updated resumes are required.

The Career Center offers services to assist students in clarifying their career choices, defining their job search strategies, and pursuing internship, employment and graduate school opportunities.
