The team of Bruce Mullis, left, Phil Wallace, the former head professional at what was then Flag Tree Golf Course, Kyle Covington and Phillip Wallwork shot a 17-under-par 55 on Oct. 6 to win the Shaggers golf tournament at Pinecrest Country Club. Bobby Bodiford, a member of the Carolina Shaggers, is at right. The tournament benefited Hospice of Lumberton, and the winning team donated the $300 prize to Hospice.

The Pembroke Recreation Department Golf Tournament will be held Nov. 26 at Pinecrest Country Club, with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. The entry fee is $60 per player and includes lunch.
The tournament format is four-person captain’s choice. All proceeds of the tournament will support the Pembroke Recreation Department in its mission to provide support to the athletes, activities and programs at the Pembroke Recreation Complex.

Two-ball Texas Scramble winners from Oct. 3 were Stan Winberry, Tom Jones, Mel Britt and Michael Graham.

Donald Barnes and Andy Warner won the championship flight of the Senior Shootout on Tuesday, Tim Parnell and Charles Hickman won the first flight and Don Showman and Larry Mitchell won the second flight. Lionel Warwick, Wilkie Lowry, Bobby Benton, Richard Lowery and Gene Brumbles won special events.
Brumbles made an eagle recently on No. 15, a 340-yard par-4, when he holed out a pitching wedge. He was playing with Lawrence McDuffie, Dave Batchelder and Sam Bailey.
The next Senior Shootout is Tuesday, with a 9 a.m. shotgun start.
