Mobile Medical

sites are set

LUMBERTON — Southeastern Mobile Medical will be stationed at the following locations at the dates listed: Monday, Long Branch Baptist Church, Lumberton; Tuesday, Allenton Fire Department, Lumberton; Wednesday, LRDA, Pembroke; and Thursday, Floyd’s Temple Number One, Lumberton

Nantachie Chavis, a family nurse practitioner, is the lead medical provider for the mobile unit, which offers primary care and preventative care services, including disease management, vaccinations, routine checkups, treatment for acute and episodic illnesses and injuries, wellness exams, and laboratory analysis.

The mobile unit operates from 9:30 a.m. until 3 p.m., however the schedule is subject to change. Appointments are not required but may be scheduled by calling 910-674-6144.

Seminars set for

weight-loss surgery

LUMBERTON — Dr. Eric Velazquez, of Southeastern Surgical Center, will host seminars on a variety of weight loss surgery options, including adjustable gastric band, sleeve gastrectomy, and Roux-en-Y gastric bypass, on Wednesday and March 13 and March 27 from 6 to 7 p.m. at Southeastern Weight Loss Center. located within the Southeastern Health Mall on the campus of Biggs Park Mall in Lumberton.

Dr. Barry Williamson, of Lumberton Surgical Associates, will host seminars on LAP-BANDTM on March 4 and March 21 from 6 to 7 p.m., also at the weight loss center.

Hospice to conduct

volunteer training

LUMBERTON — Southeastern Hospice will host a special training series for new volunteers beginning March 26 from 9:30 a.m. to noon. The training course continues every Tuesday at the same time through May 14.

Sessions are mandatory for volunteers who work with hospice patients and their families in their homes or at Southeastern Hospice House. Each session is designed to increase awareness of issues important to the care of dying patients and their families.
