ROWLAND —A 68-year-old woman has been hospitalized after she was attacked by her son at the home they shared, according to sheriff’s Maj. Howard Branch.
David Lee McCory, 41, of the 3000 block of South Robeson Road, Rowland, is charged with assault inflicting serious injury, according to Branch.
Branch said that McCory called 911 at about 8:30 a.m. and asked for an ambulance for his mother. When a deputy arrived at the home, McCory’s hands and feet were covered with blood, Branch said. The deputy found Clara McCory in a fetal position on the floor, her head covered in blood, and blood on the floor, according to Branch.
Branch said Clara McCory, who wasn’t able to speak, and was taken to Southeastern Regional Medical Center, where she was treated and transferred to another hospital, according to Amanda Crabtree, a spokesperson for SRMC.
David McCory is being held at the Robeson County jail without bond. His first scheduled court appearance was today.
