RED SPRINGS — Pearlean Brooks Smith, 84, of 3840 Old Lowery Road, formerly of 7N Boxwood St., Hampton, Va., was born Jan. 11, 1928, to the late Will Hunt and Charity Oxendine Hunt, departed this life on Dec. 29, 2012, at her home.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Maranatha Baptist Church in Yorktown, Va. Burial will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park.

Pearlean Smith was a native of Robeson County, but ventured to Virginia in her younger years to seek employment. Smith worked in the textile industry for 20 years. At the age of 60, she received her high school diploma from Commonwealth of Virginia in 1988, and pursued a career as a home health caregiver for the last 20 years until her sickness. Pearlean Smith was a faithful member of Maranatha Baptist Church, Yorktown, Va., until her sickness. She enjoyed participating in the outreach volunteer activities at the church.

Pearlean Smith was preceded in death by her loving husband, Henry Franklin “Smitty” Smith; and her loving sister, Lula Lovette.

She leaves to cherish her memories her only child, beloved daughter, Juanita and husband Roy Clark of Red Springs; three grandsons, Christopher and wife Celia Clark of Red Springs; Robin Clark of Red Springs; Brandon Clark of Red Springs; a granddaughter, Kimberly and husband Jared Locklear of Hope Mills; two nephews, David Wayne Lovette and Melissa of Poquoson, Va., and William Oliver Lovette and Pat of Smithfield, Va.; seven great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

The visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Revels Funeral Home in Lumberton.

The visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m Thursday at Maranatha Baptist Church in Yorktown, Va.
