BOSTON -- Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski watched as all three teams ahead of the Blue Devils in The Associated Press Top 25 lost this week.

Then he came to Chestnut Hill and nearly joined them.

"Nothing about today was easy," Krzyzewski said Sunday night after No. 4 Duke overcame early and late deficits to beat Boston College 62-61. "These are games anybody can lose, and throughout the country everybody is losing them. Our guys found a way to win against a team that was also deserving to win, so that's a real good thing."

Mason Plumlee had 19 points and 10 rebounds, hitting the game-winning free throw with 26 seconds left to lead Duke (21-2, 8-2 Atlantic Coast Conference) to its fifth consecutive win. Seth Curry added 18 points for the Blue Devils.

Olivier Hanlan scored 20 points for Boston College, which led by five points with 2:15 left and had a chance to win it after Plumlee made 1-of-2 free throws. After a timeout, Hanlan dribbled down the clock before pulling up for an open shot inside the foul line that was wide. Ryan Anderson grabbed the rebound but lost control as he fell to the floor and the ball popped out of bounds as the buzzer sounded to end the game.

"When you get a defensive stop, it's five guys playing as one," Krzyzewski said. "For me, there's no better feeling than to win a game that way. And you see them on the floor and that red light goes off, and its pretty cool. It's a pretty cool thing."

Scott Wood saves Wolfpack

CLEMSON, S.C. -- Scott Wood hit a 3-pointer with one second to go to lift North Carolina State to a 58-57 win over Clemson on Sunday.

Lorenzo Brown, returning after missing two games with an injured ankle, drove to the hoop before passing to Wood on the winning basket for the Wolfpack (17-7, 6-5 Atlantic Coast Conference) as they ended a three-game losing streak.

The Wolfpack set up the winning play after a timeout with 7.5 seconds to go. Brown also hit two free throws with 14 seconds left to cut Clemson's lead to two. The Tigers (12-11, 4-7) led for almost the whole game, but Milton Jennings missed the front end of a 1-in-1 with 12.3 seconds left.

Richard Howell led N.C. State with 16 points and 11 rebounds. C.J. Leslie added 12 points and 10 rebounds for the Wolfpack, who were the preseason pick to win the ACC before losing three in a row -- a streak that started when Brown left a 58-55 loss to Virginia with the hurt ankle in the first half. N.C. State plays just one team in the ACC top four the rest of the way, giving them a chance to climb back toward the top of the league.

Braves sweep Salem International

PEMBROKE – UNCP sent nine batters to the plate to fuel a five-run third inning that broke an otherwise close game wide open and the 21st-ranked Braves completed a weekend sweep of visiting Salem International with an 8-2 win over the Tigers on Sunday at Sammy Cox Field.

The win helped the Braves (6-0) stay unbeaten through six games for the third-straight season, while also helping the hosts stay perfect in their nine-game-old series with Salem International (0-3). The Tigers (0-3) snapped a 50-inning scoreless streak in the first inning of Saturday's nightcap, and managed multiple runs for the first time in eight tries against the Black & Gold on Sunday.

Newcomer Daniel Fraga doubled and walked twice to key a 2-for-3 hitting line and was one of six Braves to record multiple hits on the day. Dalton Knight drove in a pair of runs on a 2-for-3 outing as well, while Max Gagnon (2-for-4, 2 RBI) and Brett Huffman (2-for-5) each doubled on two-hit outings as well. Sophomores Ben Schmucker and Zade Denton each finished their day with 2-for-4 hitting lines.

Junior Dale Innes (1-0) struck out 11 and scattered four hits and a trio of walks across five innings from the bump to pick up his first win of the season, with four relievers each throwing an inning for the hosts as well. Chance Sharp (0-1) saddled the loss for the Tigers after surrendering seven earned runs on 10 hits and a pair of walks in just three innings of work.
