LUMBERTON — A Lumberton teenager has been charged with shooting and killing a 33-year-old man at a gas station earlier this month.
Orlando Gaddy, 18, of 777 Quail Run Road, was arrested Friday and is charged with second-degree murder in the death of Ronnie Glenn Martin, according to Lumberton police Sgt. Harold Jackson.
Gaddy was arrested at his home without incident, Jackson said, and is being held at the Robeson County jail on $250,000 bail.
Martin, of 125-A Lovette Road, was shot at about 9:38 p.m. on Oct. 4 at the Gas and Go at 905 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, according to previous reports. He was taken by ambulance to Southeastern Regional Medical Center, where he died.
Lumberton Detective Al Collins led the investigation.

On another note, this young man is 18!! What could we have done as a community to redirect this young man's life to a positive role. Was there no one who could have taken him under their wing and shown him another way of life.
There are many who are ready and willing to start name calling and mud slinging but if they put the same amount of effort into helping our youth thing will change. Most of the time these youth are missing something in their lives...love, positive male role models, etc. We need more positive male role models to step up and show them that they can be more...if they don't then the gangs will show them "love and acceptance", that's where the problem starts.
