Edith Lauren Porter of Little River, S.C., and Roy Keith Rogers of Fairmont were united in marriage on Oct. 13 at 4 p.m. at an outside service at Brunswick Plantation in Calabash. The Rev. Lindsey Inman officiated the service with a love passage and scripture read from Matthew 19, verses 4-6, and Ephesians 5, verses 22-31. Music was provided by Paul Thompson, friend of the groom. A reception followed inside the main hall at Brunswick Plantation. Music and dancing followed outside on the veranda.

The bride, who was escorted by her father, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jeffrey Levi Porter of Little River, S.C. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Don Watts and Mr. and Mrs. Solomon Levi Porter, of Tabor City. She is the great-granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Cha Fowler of Tabor City. The bride is a graduate of Brunswick Community College in Bolivia, and Strand College of Hair Design in Myrtle Beach, S.C. She is the owner of Salon Envy in North Myrtle Beach, S.C.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Rogers of Fairmont. He is the grandson of Mrs. Annie Ruth Rogers-Faulk, the late Mr. and Mrs. Albert Bass and Mr. Asbury Rogers. He is the president of Rogers’ Screen Printing, Embroidery and Sporting Goods of Fairmont and Lumberton, and Identity Promotions of Little River, S.C.

The bride wore a strapless tulle and organza white ball gown with beaded lace and vertical ruffle skirt. She wore a rhodium tiara with round stones embellished with round cut rhinestones. She wore a two tiered fingertip length veil with beaded metallic edging.

A beautiful floral motif accented the veil. She wore silver flip flops with stunning chucky beads with a crystal bow. She carried a bouquet made of beautiful very large purple calla lilies, medium Picasso calla lilies and white and lavender mini calla lilies with a rhinestone cuff. All throughout the bouquet lay large vintage silver beaded rhinestone brooches.

The matron of honor was Mrs. Kadie Jo Watts, cousin of the bride from Nakina. The maid of honor was Ms. Page Morris, friend of the bride from Little River, S.C. Bridesmaids were Ms. Melissa Rogers, sister of the groom from Fairmont and Ms. Abigail Broadway, future sister-in-law of the bride from Charleston, S.C. The junior bridesmaid was Miss Annadora Fowler, cousin of the bride from Little River, S.C. The flower girl was Miss EmmaLeigh Higgins, cousin of the groom from Lumberton. The miniature bride was Miss MaggieBrenna Jackson, cousin of the groom from Little River, S.C. They carried Picasso calla lilies, white mini calla lilies, lavender roses with wax purple and silver wraps.

The best man was Mr. Roy Rogers, father of the groom. The groomsmen were Mr. David Rogers, cousin of the groom from Fairmont, Mr. William Rogers, cousin of the groom from Lumberton, and Mr. Lance Porter, brother of the bride from Charleston, S.C. Ushers were Mr. Lenny Higgins, cousin of the groom from Lumberton, and Mr. J. R. Jordan, friend of the groom from Little River, S.C. The ring bearer was Master Braylen Higgins, cousin of the groom from Lumberton, and the mini groom was Master Hudson-Nate Watts, cousin of the bride from Nakina.

A bridal shower was given at the home of Mrs. Doris Grainger of Green Sea, S.C. The hostesses were Kelli Currie, Kitty Coleman, Gina Cartrette, Lynn McDowell, LaCha Porter-Goff, Peggy Fowler, Abby Broadway, Peggy Currie, Phyllis Althen, Sheila Watts, Sandra Patrick, and Donna Scarboro.

A bridesmaid brunch was given at the home of Mrs. Belinda Barnhill of Little River, S.C, and the hostesses were Jeanna Allen, Renea Fowler, and Belinda Barnhill.

An around-the-clock shower was given at the home of Mrs. Amy Martini of Little River, S.C. The hostesses were Melissa White, Haley Cox, Anita Hodges, Shannon Hardee, Jan Livingston and Amy Martini.

A bridal shower was given at the family packhouse of Jo Ann Lewis of Fairmont. The hostesses were Katie Byrd, June King, Melissa Rogers, Paula Hayes, Ronnie Mathis, Crystal Davis, Summer Higgins and Jo Ann Lewis.

A bachelorette party was given by Kadi Jo Watts, Page Morris and Lori Jackson with the bridal party and close friends of the bride.

A dinner party was given by the grooms parents at Casa Villa in Little River, S.C., for friends and family of the couple.

Mrs. Jan Hardee of Tabor City directed the ceremony. The flowers were from Flowers on the Coast in North Myrtle Beach, S.C.

After a honeymoon stay at North Beach Plantation in North Myrtle Beach, S.C., the couple left for Daytona, Fla., where the couple first vacationed. They will reside in Little River, S.C.
