LUMBERTON — A Lumberton man has been arrested and charged with shooting his girlfriend in the neck after an argument on Tuesday, according to the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office.
Jason Brandon West, 27, of Pine Log Road, is charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury in the shooting of Akishia Jones, 32, of Piney Grove Road. He is being held at the Robeson County jail without bond.
Jones was shot in her home at about 4 p.m. after the couple argued, according to sheriff’s Maj. Howard Branch. West threatened to kill Jones, pulled out a pistol and shot her in the neck, Branch said.
Jones ran to the home of a neighbor, who drove her to Southeastern Regional Medical Center, Branch said. She was treated and transferred to another facility.
