LUMBERTON — A 22-year-old Lumberton man died after being shot outside of his home late Wednesday, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
Nathaniel Latreal Baxley, of 162 Camala Drive, was working on a dirt bike just before 11:30 p.m. Wednesday when he was shot, sheriff’s Maj. Howard Branch said. Baxley’s girlfriend, who was inside the home, heard “more than one” gunshot and called 911, Branch said. It was unclear how man times Baxley was struck.
No arrests have been made as of this morning.
When officers arrived, they found Baxley lying on the kitchen floor, Branch said. He died later at Southeastern Regional Medical Center.
