SHANNON — A Shannon teenager has been charged with breaking into a woman’s home and robbing her at gunpoint early Thursday.
Tamos Deon Jones, 17, of Fran Street, was charged with first-degree burglary, robbery with a dangerous weapon and second-degree kidnapping and placed in the Robeson County jail under $101,000 bond.
According to a report by sheriff’s Deputy T.C. Scott, Jones broke into the home about 2:20 a.m. Thursday by pulling an air conditioner unit from a window. He pointed a shotgun at the woman while she was in bed and demanded money, according to the report. Jones then asked the woman to walk down the hallway toward her daughter’s bedroom and asked her to undress, according to the report.
Jones fled out the back door of the home after a sheriff’s deputy arrived and shined a flashlight through a window, according to the report. Jones was captured after a short foot chase, according to the report, and a cell phone, a purse and about $30 cash were recovered.
The Robesonian has elected not to publish the woman’s name or her home address.
Capt. Anthony Thompson said additional charges are pending.
The deputy was at the home after a neighbor had called 911 after seeing Jones try and fail to break into her home, according to the report.
