Mural in Fairmont gets re-created FAIRMONT — Motivated by his love for art, Tom Volkman quickly accepted Mayor Charles Kemp’s request to reinvent a mural on the south wall at Fairmont’s Heritage Park.
The original mural, created by local artist Matt Taylor, disappeared in June 2012 when maintenance work had to be done to seal the wall to protect it from moisture. Taylor’s painting had depicted Fairmont’s agricultural history on a 45-inch-long train.
