GIRLS TENNIS

Lady Pirates take no prisoners

LUMBERTON — The Lumberton girls tennis team posted their second straight convincing win as they hosted South View Thursday.

The 6-0 victory improves the Lady Pirates record to 2-0 on the season. More to the point, in two matches they haven’t lost a set in singles and dropped only one in doubles. That one loss came during their previous outing at Fairmont on Wednesday. But the Lady Pirates were flawless Thursday on their home courts.

They next host Pine Forest (Fayetteville) at 4 p.m. Tuesday.

The Eagles won 4-0, scoring a goal in the first half and adding three more in the second.

The Bulldogs fall to 0-1-1 on the season. They will next play 5 p.m. Wednesday at West Bladen.
