Bulldogs stifle Westover

FAYETTEVILLE — The St. Pauls High School boys soccer team used a pair of late goals to defeat Westover 3-1 on Wednesday night.

Seniors Erik Perez and Alex Avalos paced the Bulldogs (2-1-1) with a goal each, helping the team claim its second straight win.

Anthony Espinosa netted the third goal with a solo run from midfield. Perez and Victor Garcia added one assist each for the Bulldogs.

The score was 1-1 at the half.

St. Pauls will host East Bladen at 6 p.m. Monday.

Pirates struggle in loss to W. Brunswick

LUMBERTON — Tristan Murphy put on a show against the Lumberton boys soccer team on Wednesday, netting four goals in an 8-2 win for West Brunswick.

The Pirates (1-1-1) struck first to take an early 1-0 lead, but the Trojans (2-2) dominated the rest of the match, outscoring Lumberton 8-1.

Abiasi Moreno and Nick Veneziano finished with goals for Lumberton.

David Cardenas, Sam Zeng, John McNeil and Lincoln Smith scored a goal each for the visitors.

The Pirates will look to get back on track tonight at Cape Fear.

TENNIS

The Fairmont and Lumberton girls tennis match was postponed Wednesday and will be rescheduled for a later date.
