Tornadoes beat Pack

FAIRMONT — The Fairmont High School volleyball team defeated Whiteville in three sets Thursday, improving to 14-1 on the season.

The Golden Tornadoes won 25-16, 25-18 and 26-24 to claim the match.

Niya Dickens led Fairmont with 17 kills and 15 digs. Reva Locklear tallied 25 assists and three aces. Marsha Clewis contributed seven kills and six blocks, with Courtney McCormick adding nine digs.

In junior varsity action, Fairmont beat Whiteville 2-0.

Bulldogs win in OT

TABOR CITY — The St. Pauls High School boys soccer team withstood a rally from South Columbus on Thursday to win 4-3 in overtime.

Ricardo Flores netted two goals for the Bulldogs (6-5-1), who led 3-1 at the half before surrendering two goals to South Columbus in the closing minutes to force overtime.

Erik Perez and Alex Avalos scored a goal each for St. Pauls, who returns to action Monday at Hoke County.
