LITTLE RIVER S.C. — The Lumberton 15-and-under All-Stars stayed undefeated at the Dixie Youth Softball World Series with two wins on the second day of play at the North Myrtle Beach Park and Sports Complex.

Lumberton and Alabama, the two undefeated teams left in the tournament, play at 8 p.m. tonight.

A six-run inning fuled Lumberton to it’s 12-8 victory over Virginia in the first game.

Nakyra Mitchell, Conner Brisson and Kasey West each had two hits in the win and Mitchell added three RBIs. West hit in two runs as well.

JaiLeana Deese pitched three innings and kept Virginia scoreless and to one hit during her time in the circle.

Lumberton’s pitching held South Carolina to two hits in its 8-2 win in the nightcap.

Morgan Hatchell, Morgan Britt and Deese handled the pitching duties for Lumberton in the contest. Hatchell pitched three innings and allowed no hits while fanning eight batters, while Britt struck out seven in her three innings of relief.

At the plate, Hatchell and Brisson led Lumberton with three hits and a RBI apiece. Britt, Carly Dawson, Katie Kinlaw and Erin Maynor each had two hits in the game. Dawson and Katlyn Jones each led the team with two RBIs.
