Lady Rams down South Robeson in straight sets

PEMBROKE — The Purnell Swett volleyball team topped South Robeson at home with a three-set victory on Tuesday night.

The Lady Rams used scores of 25-20, 25-18 and 25-19 to pick up the win.

Alicia Freeman had five service aces and nine assists for Purnell Swett. Diamond McPherson and Hunter Bullard had three kills each.

South Robeson was led by Destiny Strickland with six service aces, four assists and three kills. Tehya Bullard had four assists and three kills, and Haeli Chavis had five kills.

Purnell Swett hosts Fairmont on Thursday and South Robeson plays Purnell Swett at home next Tuesday.

Red Springs sweeps Westover

The Red Springs volleyball team picked up its first win of the season with a straight-set win on the road at Westover on Tuesday.

The Lady Red Devils (1-1) posted the win 25-20, 25-19, 25-7.

Kelsey Locklear had seven assists, while Katelyn Culbreth, Sanastasia Powell and Paige Locklear had two kills each.

Red Springs hosts Lumberton on Thursday.

Lumberton tennis routs West Columbus

The Lumberton tennis team earned a 8-1 home victory over West Columbus on Tuesday.

The Lady Pirates won in five of the six singles matches and in all three doubles contests. Kaitlyn McDonald, Morgan Miller, Elizabeth Stanley, Anna Russ and Haley Ivey won their singles and doubles matches.

Lumberton (3-2) plays at home against Jack Britt next Wednesday.
