Lumberton’s Dominic Dent, Ross Masters win N.C. racquetball event

LUMBERTON — Lumberton’s Dominic Dent and Ross Masters pulled the ultimate upset at the North Carolina Racquetball state tournament in Charlotte this past weekend, defeating the top-seeded team to win the Men’s B Division.

Dent, a senior at Lumberton High School, and Masters, a Lumberton graduate, ran the table to earn top honors at the event. It was Masters’ first appearance in the state tournament.

Dominic, the top-ranked, 18-and-under racquetball player in North Carolina, and his 15-year-old sister Elena will head to Stockton, California in June to compete in the Junior National Racquetball Tournament.

Dent is the son of Eric and Amy Dent. Masters is the son of John and Mary Ann Masters.
