Lumberton tops Hoke in OT

LUMBERTON — Brittany Ward netted the game-winning goal to lead the Lumberton girls soccer team to a 1-0 overtime win over Hoke on Monday.

The Lady Pirates earned their first win of the season when Madison Siemens found Ward for the go-ahead goal in the first overtime period.

Lumberton will be back on the pitch when it hosts Richmond on Wednesday.

Richmond soccer blasts Purnell Swett

PEMBROKE — Cassie McFaden scored five goals, leading the Richmond girls soccer team to a 7-0 victory at Purnell Swett on Monday.

The Raiders (6-0-2, 2-0 SEC) netted four goals in the opening half and three in second half, snapping a four-game win streak for the Lady Rams (6-2, 1-1).

Purnell Swett will be back on the pitch Wednesday when it host Pinecrest.

Whiteville comes back, tops Red Springs

RED SPRINGS — The Whiteville girls soccer team rallied for a 4-2 win over Red Springs on Monday, scoring three goals in the second half to earn the victory.

Noelia and Viridiana Tapia scored one goal each for the Lady Red Devils (2-4, 1-1 TRC), who jumped out to a 2-1 lead in the first half.

Gabrielle Pecina logged 16 saves for Red Springs, which returns to action Wednesday when it hosts West Columbus.

In other Three Rivers Conference action, St. Pauls scored a quartet of second-half goals to earn a 5-0 win over East Columbus.

Fairmont takes 2nd in TRC golf match

LORIS, S.C. — Zach Parker shot an 87 to lead the Fairmont golf team to a runner-up finish in a Three Rivers Conference golf match at Diamondback Golf Club on Monday.

The Golden Tornadoes shot 368 as a team, with Josh Johnson carding 93 and Lucas Andrews shooting 94.

Wesley Bryant carded an 84 to lead South Columbus, which posted a team score of 344 to win the match. Whiteville finished third at 372.

Zachary Brayboy posted an 89 to pace South Robeson, with Preston Locklear shooting 92 to lead Red Springs.
