PROSPECT - A church youth director was arrested Friday and charged with sexual battery on a 14-year-old boy.
Harold Dean Jacobs, 54, of 543 Hezekiah Road, Maxton, faces one count of sexual battery, a misdemeanor offense.
Detective Connie Graham of the Sheriff's Office's Juvenile Division arrested Jacobs at the Magistrate's Office in Lumberton. Jacobs was accompanied by his attorney, Hugh Rogers.
The crime allegedly occurred in February at Prospect United Methodist Church, where Jacobs also serves as the music minister, according to the sheriff's report. The incident is alleged to have happened after a youth function at the church. The alleged victim, who is 15 years old now, doesn't attend the church.
Jacobs was released on a $5,000 unsecured bond. A court date was set for Nov. 16.
