LUMBERTON — Lumbee Tribal Chairman Jimmy Goins, Councilman James T. Smith and members of the tribal staff will be at the Saddletree Community Building on Mount Olive Church Road at 7 p.m. tonight to discuss tribal programs and upcoming events.

All members of the Lumbee Tribe are encouraged to attend. There will be drawings for door prizes. For information, call Doug Locklear at the Lumbee tribal office at (910) 522-5190.

LUMBERTON — The Robeson County Humane Society is hosting a ‘Puppy Love’ Valentine’s Dinner and Dance at 7 p.m. on Feb. 12.

The event takes place at the Pinecrest Country Club, Lumberton. Tickets are $50 per person, $25 for students. All proceeds go to the humane society.

Author and animal trainer William Berloni is the guest speaker for the evening. His work has included trained dogs for “Legally Blonde,” “Annie,” “The Wizard of Oz,” and “Charlie Wilson’s War.”

Berloni will talk about being the first to train actors to work with animals on stage, his love for mutts over purebreds, as well as the four-acre animal retirement compound where he lives.
