To the Editor.

I am writing to show support for voting against Amendment One on May 8.

I have lived all over the country and have never seen such outright hatred around our community. For all the Bbible-thumping Christians who are so opposed to same-sex marriage, let me assure you that the sinner-man is listening and watching you. As you judge others let it be recorded that you too shall be judged.

More than 50 percent of Christian marriages are now ending in divorce … that’s a fact! The democratic establishment, as most Robesonians call themselves, believe in the separation of church and state and also believe in abortion … that’s a fact! So where is your religious outrage regarding these topics?

So while your passion for despise and disgust against the gay community is noted, your ignorance of the word and of this amendment is quite embarrassing. So many folks are still living under the law … you are no different than the Pharasee’s and Sadducees of olden time. Since many are so willing to quote Bible, let me quote this one for you. “Ever who says they walk in the light, yet speak in the dark, are yet still in darkness.”

Your passion may fool the ignorant, but certainly not the learned and wise. Your energy may better be spent not in judging others, but evaluating your own marriages.

The greatest of all these is love.
