To the Editor,

Will someone please tell me why gasoline in St. Pauls, N.C., is still at $3.50 a gallon in some places? Why is it high here in St. Pauls, N.C., while in Lumberton and the surrounding counties it is $3.28 and lower? Why are the merchants who own gas stations in St. Pauls, N.C., not making the adjustments like they should to lower the price?

St. Pauls merchants, do you miss my smiling face? I can buy my gas in Lumberton, along with my chips and honey buns and my cup of coffee and my morning newspaper.

Gas is usually higher at stations close to Interstate exits like 22. If you're going out of your way to drive from St. Pauls to Lumberton to buy gas, then the $0.20 a gallon your saving will be cancelled out by the mileage and wear you're putting on your vehicle.

yes,it usually is. because travelers aren't going to drive 5 miles away from the interstate for cheaper gas. i was marely stating that there is a 20 cent difference less than a quarter mile from each other.

and it's still $3.46-$3.48 in some places in lumberton. take exit 22 for example, on the south side of 95 gas is around $3.26. go over to the north side and it's $3.46. now that's just rediculous.

for the same reason it's ansanely high in red springs, its a small town, a very small town. they have to make there money some way or another. which abviously isn't working, because your probably one of many who are going to lumberton to buy your gas. which in turn is taking money out of the small towns, and will eventually result in those stores closing and forcing people out of those small towns. exactly what obama spoke of doing when he first came to office.
