To the Editor,

Right now, there are abused and neglected children who are involved with juvenile court through no fault of their own. These children deserve to know that there is a caring adult who will provide a voice for them in court. Our program trains community persons to provide that voice for our children.

There will be an interest meeting on July 16 at 5:30 p.m. in the Guardian ad Litem office located at 108 W. Eighth St. So many times, we wait for others to correct a situation but protecting our children is a responsibility of all citizens.

Ghandi said “be the change that you would like to see in the world.” Please join us as we continue to make a difference in the lives of our children.

Helping kids is always a good thing, but I curious to know more about them being in juvenile court "through no fault of their own." What does that mean?

BBBD,

I will tell you my understanding. These people act as advocates for children who end up in the court system because they have been abused or neglected, not b/c they have committed or are accused of committing a crime. Might be a custody battle for instance. These kids are definitely victims in these cases.

That's what it sounded like, but I wasn't sure. Thanks.
