To the Editor,
Think.
Here it is, that time of the year again, when we see signs on the sides of the roads with someone’s name on it asking us to vote for them to get on the Tribal Council or vote for them to become tribal chairperson. I ask the tribal members to think before they vote. Vote for the ones that they think will work for the tribal members and not for themselves. Don’t vote for someone just because your cousin or uncle asks you to; that is what the problem is now with the “good old boy and girl ways.”
I for one will not vote for someone I don’t know. If whoever is running wants my vote, they have to come and talk to me first.
And let’s not forget the council members who went on a Hawaiian and Alaskan vacation on our money. Jimmy Goins is once again running. Lets not forget the last time he was in office he sold out the Lumbee people to the lobbying group from Nevada, and probably cost us the Lumbee Recognition Bill.
