Powwow set
for Friday
LUMBERTON — The Saddletree Community Center will hold its 12th annual Saddletree powwow on Friday at 7 p.m. and Saturday at noon at the center at 1031 Mt. Olive Road.
There will be gospel music on Friday and arts and crafts, as well as food vendors and games for the family on Saturday.

PEMBROKE — “Peace in the Park,” a free concert series taking place each Thursday in September from 7 to 9 p.m. at Pembroke Town Park, will feature The Beast this week, a hip-hop jazz quartet.
Upcoming performances include Jana on Sept. 20 and Dark Water Rising on Sept. 27.

LUMBERTON — Purple Door Productions will hold auditions for “Rocky Horror Picture Show” on Tuesday at 6 p.m. at the studio at 209 N. Elm St.
Participants must prepare a pop song or a song from the show. Readings will be from the script.

Car show set
for October
ELIZABETHTOWN — Friends of the Bay Lakes will hold its second annual Car Show on Oct. 20 at 10 a.m. at 4117 N.C. 242 North at Jones Lake State Park.
The cost is $20 to enter and judging begins at noon. The rain date is Nov. 3.

Elder’s Club to
host plate sale
LUMBERTON — Union Chapel Elder’s Club will hold a plate sale to benefit the club on Sept. 28 starting at 11 a.m. at the Union Chapel Community Building on Evergreen Church Road.
The cost per plate is $7 and attendants can choose between fried chicken or roast beef. The meal includes a roll, dessert and a beverage.
