LUMBERTON — The Carolina Civic Center Historic Theater will hold a free reception at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday to celebrate the opening of “Evolving Perspectives,” an exhibit organized by the River Roots Arts Guild which features artwork by regional artists.

Refreshments will be available.

The exhibit, which will run until Jan. 8, 2013, can be viewed during scheduled events at the Carolina Civic Center Historic Theater, or by appointment by calling 910-738-4339.

LUMBERTON — The Robeson County Church and Community Center will hold its annual barbecue and chicken plate sale on Friday beginning at 11 a.m. at the community center at 600 West Fifth St.

Barbecue and chicken plates are $7 and combination plates are $8.50. Proceeds benefit the Robeson County Church and Community Center.

LUMBERTON — The Carolina Civic Center Historic Theatre will hold auditions for “A Robeson County Christmas” original production at 1 p.m. Sept. 29 at the theater at 315 N. Chestnut St.

Participants are asked to prepare a Christmas song and the bring their own accompaniment tracks. There are parts available for a featured female gospel vocalist, two female lead singer and dancers, two male lead singer and dancers, three female dancers who sing and three male dancers who sing.

FAIRMONT — The Fairmont Farmer’s Festival Pageant is now accepting application to compete in the pageant, which will be on Oct. 13.

The deadline to apply is Sept. 26. Applications can be picked up at Angie’s Touch of Class at 220 S. Main St.

LUMBERTON — The Carolina Civic Center Historic Theater in downtown Lumberton is seeking volunteers to help as ushers, stage hands, spotlight operators and actors, as well as people to help with set contruction for its upcoming schedule.

FAYETTEVILLE — North Carolina native and country artist Matt Stillwell will perform on Saturday at the Crown Center during the Cumberland County Fair.

Fair admission is $10 and includes admission to the concert.
