Voters elected the wrong Cummings for commissioner

To the Editor,

Recently, The Robesonian looked into the salaries, benefits, retirement and discretionary funds of our commissioners vs. other fellow counties and their commissioners. The facts were astounding. Robeson County is the most impoverished in the state of North Carolina with growing unemployment, while our county commissioners are the highest paid with excellent benefits for their families as well.

This is not the first time this information was made public. As I recall it was brought to our attention during the county commissioners race between Raymond Cummings and Lacy Cummings this past May. I also recall Raymond Cummings saying it was not true. He blatantly lied to as taxpayers so he could serve a fifth term in office, which entitles him even more benefits for him and his family.

These commissioners keep increasing their pay and benefits, while we as taxpayers, Christian people and mothers and fathers, can barely make ends meet. Raymond’s supporters and staff smeared Lacy Cummings during this time. He has helped so many families to be able to keep their utilities from being turned off, helped financially when families have lost loved ones, supported communities by buying baseball uniforms for the team. These are just a few things Lacy Cummings has done to show that he truly and honestly gives back to the community.

On Election Day I even saw people wearing T-shirts that stated “Everybody loves Raymond” — a slogan stolen from a TV show. We can attempt to make things right on Oct. 4, 2012, and re-elect Mr. Lacy L. Cummings for District 4 on the Lumber River Electric Membership board. He does not lie, cheat and steal, and he is what the people need, especially in the hard times.

To all of you who voted for Raymond Cummings in the May election, you may not have to answer to man, but you will to God. No wonder our churches are seeing less and less adults, children and sinners on Sunday. They are being taught to lie, cheat and steal while saying you are a child of God.
