Tommy Britt made the rarest of golf shots at Pinecrest Country Club on Tuesday, scoring a double-eagle on the 529-yard par 5 No. 11. Longtime club members could remember only one other double-eagle being made on No. 11.

Britt, playing with Ryan Bass, Carlton Dial, James Smith and Truman Lowery, holed out a 5-iron second shot on the hole from 188 yards that followed a long tee shot.

“I killed it,” said Britt of the tee shot.

The fifth annual Givena Performing Arts Center Golf Tournament is scheduled for Tuesday at Pinecrest Country Club. The tournament raises money for the center’s capital fund and helps bring arts and entertainment to The University of North Carolina at Pembroke.

The tournament format is four-person captain’s choice, and play begins with a 1 p.m. shotgun start. The cost for a single player is $100 and includes lunch, a goody bag, cart and greens fees. Sponsorship opportunities range from $100 to $1,000.

Fairmont GC

The fifth annual Farmers Festival Golf Tournament will be held at Fairmont Golf Club on Oct. 19 with a shotgun start at 1 p.m.

Les Sandy recently make a hole-in-one, knocking in his tee shot on the 168-yard No. 11.

Texas Scramble winners from Sept. 19 were Jimmy Stone, Mel Britt and John Potter. Mel Britt won the special event.

Senior Shootout winners from Tuesday were: championship flight, Jimmy Stone and Roger Tyner; first flight, Gene Brumbles and Billy Smith; second flight, Tommy Newberry and Robert Newberry. J.D. Revels, Roger Tyner, Tim Parnell and Les Sandy won special events.

The next Senior Shootout is Tuesday with a 9 a.m. shotgun start.

Scothurst GC

Trent Palmer recently won the club championship, shooting rounds of 70 and 69 for a 3-under-par total of 139. Billy Cash was the white-tee champion with a 161 total, and Gene Gooden was the gold-tee champion with a 152.

During the tournament, Declan Freswick shot his best score ever from the championship tees, a 1-over-par 72.
