To the Editor,
Why would anyone be skeptical of the Robeson County commissioners motives? After all they reluctantly decided to “study” their compensation and benefits package and have in the interim decided to no longer be the only commissioners in the state with a deferred compensation plan. If we have commissioners who are unaware of their own perks, how can they spend our tax monies in a manner that will benefit one of the poorest counties in North Carolina?
Initially, the commissioners didn’t want to consider any change to their discretionary fund, which The Robesonian tells us they are now looking at. I, personally, want my tax dollars to be accounted for and the Robeson County commissioners to act as a body in how they are spent.
