PEMBROKE — A 14-year member of the Pembroke Police Department has been fired following a week-long suspension, according to town officials.
Police Lt. Charles Maynor was fired on Thursday, according to Town Manager Oryan Lowry. Maynor was suspended on Oct. 18. Lowry has cited confidentiality laws in saying he could not release any details about Maynor’s suspension or termination.
Lowry on Monday said he could not comment on three complaints that were filed on Oct. 9 with the Robeson County branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, as he has not yet received a copy of the complaints.
Two of the complaints, filed by former employee Jennifer Dial and Assistant Police Chief Dwayne Hunt, allege discrimination in the workplace. The third complaint was filed by Kecia McRae, who said she was not hired for a job because she was black.
According to Renea Stackhouse, president of the county branch of the NAACP, the complaints have also been filed with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, along with a fourth discrimination complaint from retired Police Chief Frank Hernandez. Hernandez is working to also file a complaint with the NAACP, Stackhouse said.
On another note, how can hunt and dial file suit with the NAACP? They are lumm's! And why all this talk about jot hiring minorities, wasn't hernandez Hispanic? Isn't that detective vamezio, some type of minorty?
