Karen “Mook” Burns Privette, 50, of 2292 Philadelphus Road, departed this life for her eternal heavenly home on Oct. 28, 2012, at Duke University Medical Center. “Heaven gained an Angel.”

The funeral will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Deep Branch Baptist Church. Karen will lie-in-state one hour prior to the service.

Karen graduated in 1980 from Pembroke Senior High School then moved to Raleigh, where she met her devoted husband. She returned home in 1998, where she remained as a homemaker until her death.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents, father, Rufus “Goodson” Burns Jr., and mother, Ola Lee Sampson Burns; paternal grandparents, the Rev. Rufus and Avie Burns; maternal grandparents, Warren and Cattie Sampson; a brother, Phillip Locklear; a niece, Jessica Lee Ramsey; a brother-in-law, David Keith Deese; and a special double first cousin, Barbara Ann Burns Cummings.

Karen is survived by her loving and faithful husband of 27 years, Jeffery Bill Privette; two sons, Patrick Warren Privette and Jeffery Burns Privette, of the home; a daughter, Katherine Ave Privette, of the home; two sisters, Wanda Burns-Ramsey (Calvin) of Raleigh, Sharon Kay Burns Deese of Pembroke; a brother, Rufus Lynn Burns (Tina) of Pembroke; three grandchildren, Braeden, Braylee, and Shawn Ryan; two special great-nieces, Bella “Bella Boo” and Terran “Dooda”; and two great-nephews, Nolan and Camden; a special aunt, Audrey Lee Sampson Chavis; a special cousin, Daniel James Jones of the home; and by all her beloved nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Revels Funeral Home in Lumberton and other times at 796 Prospect Road in Pembroke.

Aryah Skey Ransom, of Lumberton, died Oct. 27, 2012, at Southeastern Regional Medical Center.

A graveside service will be 6 p.m. today at Mercy’s Bridge Holiness Church Cemetery, the Rev. Jerry Paul officiating.

She is survived by her parents, Eric Eugene Ransom and Kristen Latrice Locklear.

William Donegan

Lumberton

William Gordon Donegan, 50, of 4749 Alamac Road, died Oct. 29, 2012, at Southeastern Hospice House.

There are no services planned at this time.

He is survived by his mother, Joan C. Donegan of New York; a sister, Lisa Samen of Colorado; and two brothers, John Donegan and David Donegan of New York.

Melvin Blount

Lumberton

Melvin D. Blount, 62, of 406 Sinclair St., died Oct. 27, 2012, at Southeastern Hospice House.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Pentecostal United Holy Church, Dr. Russell Rogers officiating. Burial will follow in Pentecostal United Holy Church Cemetery.

He is survived by his parents, Edward Blount Sr., and Juanita Blount; a son, Clarence Woods of Lumberton; three daughters, Shaunda Graham, Claretta Jean Woods and Sylvia Swindell, all of Lumberton; five brothers, Edward Blount Jr., Gregory Blount, Freddie Blount, Larry Blount and Alfred Love, all of Lumberton; a sister, Elder Betty Rogers; and five grandchildren.

The visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Thursday at Colvin Funeral Home & Cremations.

Madison Durden

Bladenboro

Madison Renee Durden, 15, of Bladenboro, died Oct. 26, 2012.

The funeral will be 4 p.m. today at New Light Church. The burial will follow in Singletary Cemetery at Sandhills.

She is survived by her parents, Kim Turner of Bladenboro and Randy Durden of St. Pauls; two sisters, Makayla Field of the home and Miranda Durden of St. Pauls; a brother, Randall Durden of St. Pauls; and a stepsister, Alexis Cook of St. Pauls.
