To the Editor,

On Nov. 13, the Lumbee Tribe will hold elections for District 1, which represents Orrum, Rowland, Sterlings, Gaddys, Whitehouse and Thompson communities. If you know me, you know that I am one who serves our people in the community. I am highly motivated, have excellent organizational skills, am determined to succeed with a positive attitude and am a team player. I have great concern when it comes to working for our communities.

My accomplishments include Rowland Middle School PTA president in 2008 and 2009, Southside Ashpole Elementary School PTO treasurer for four years, Pubic Schools of Robeson County Title VII Parent Committee, I.E.H.A./ Tarheel Chapter president 2008-present, South Robeson High School Booster Club, Burnt Swamp Baptist’s union financial clerk, former material resources supervisor at Southeastern Regional Medical Center and countywide custodial foreman for the Public Schools of Robeson County. I attend Dogwood Baptist Church and I believe in prayer and and letting God’s will be done.

If elected I will work with all Tribal Council members and our tribal chairman to reach our goals for our Lumbee youths and elders. I will keep our Lumbee district informed by holding community meeting so as to listen to your concerns. I will strive as our forefathers before us did to work hard and do what is right for our Lumbee people.

Polls will open at 6:30 a.m. until 7:30 p.m. To the citizens of Lumbee Tribal District 1, it’s time for a new voice. Vote for a person that can make a positive difference in our community. I ask for your vote.

Billy “Dollar Bill” Oxendine

Rowland
