BLET in Hamlet

LUMBERTON — William W. Blanks Jr. of Lumberton completed the Basic Law Enforce-ment Training program at Richmond Com-munity College in Hamlet.

The 702-hour course included 35 units, ranging from firearms training and driving techniques to search and seizure procedures.

meets Saturday

LUMBERTON — The Redstone-Hayswood Alumni Association Inc. will hold a meeting on Nov. 17 at 1:30 p.m. at the W. H. Knuckles Elementary School cafeteria.

Planetarium hosts free show

LUMBERTON — The Robeson Planetarium will hold Mayan Astonomy: Skywatchers of Ancient Mexico at the Planetarium and Science Center at 420 Caton Road on Nov. 17 from 6 to 7 p.m.

The cost is free and donations of a can of food or non-perishables will be accepted.

FHS students

win contest

FAIRMONT — Four Fairmont High students recently won cash prizes during a recycling contest co-sponsored by the town of Fairmont and Waste Management.

Jesse and Victoria Flowers won first place and $100 after recycling 460 pounds; Stephanie Edwards won second place and $60 after recycling 420 pounds; and Duncan McLeod won third place and $40 after recycling 280 pounds.
