Louie Oxendine, 65, of 4430 N. Chicken Road, was born July 27, 1947, and departed this life on Nov. 12, 2012, at the Southeastern Hospice House.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Friday at Mt. Airy Baptist Church, the Revs. Steve Strickland, Guy Graham, and Mike Cummings officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Etta Mae Oxendine; a brother, Vernell Oxendine; maternal grandparents, Chesley and Rose Locklear; paternal grandparents, Thorton and Arie Oxendine; and a great-grandchild, Miracle Locklear.

Oxendine is survived by his wife, Hilda Locklear Oxendine; a son, Donald G. Oxendine (Sondra); three daughters, Kamelia F. Oxendine, Pamela K. Oxendine (Mark), and Tamara A. Oxendine (Kevin); two brothers, Freddie Hall and Stevie Oxendine; three sisters, Retha Locklear, Susie Cummings, and Panthie Locklear; grandchildren, Gene A. Oxendine, Garrett A. Locklear (Crystal), Gabriel A. Locklear, Clarise L. Bolano, Joseph L. Bolano, Kegan Hunt, Taylor Shane Hunt, and Kylan J. Hunt; two great-grandchildren, Gakiyah Locklear and Lilyana Locklear; and a host of relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Mt. Airy Baptist Church.
