There’s just one new gift to The Empty Stocking Fund to report, but it’s generous, and will scratch 10 needy children off of Santa’s list.

Leroy Rising, a real estate broker with Century 21, and his wife Betty have donated $500 to the fund in honor of their grandson, Will.

As in this instance, The Robesonian publishes photographs when requested with donations of $500 or more. Those who plan on making such a gift are encouraged to do so soon so that we have a better chance of getting these photographs published on A1.

The gift pushes the fund’s total to $1,775.

There are 1,781 children ages 1 to 13 from 785 families who have been deemed eligible to benefit from the fund this year, so the need during these difficult times is great.

Donations can be made in person at our office at 2175 N. Roberts Ave. or mailed to us at P.O Box 1028, Lumberton, N.C., 28359. Just make the check payable to The Empty Stocking Fund.

Each day The Robesonian will list the money donated and the contributors. If you wish to remain anonymous, you can do so by being listed as “A friend” or “Anonymous.” Donations can also be made in honor or memory of loved ones.

Previous total … $1,275
